GAS SAFE REGISTER.

(Note it’s not live for searches until
April 1st.).
“Gas Safe Register is the new hallmark for gas safety in Great Britain. From April 1st 2009, Gas Safe Register replaces CORGI gas registration as the official gas safety body.
So, from 1st April, by law, only Gas Safe registered engineers should carry out work on gas appliances or installations in your home.
Why do I need to use a Gas Safe registered engineer?
It’s all about safety. To make sure that gas appliances such as boilers, fires, ovens and hobs are installed, maintained and serviced safely you should employ a Gas Safe registered engineer to carry out the work.
If someone other than a Gas Safe registered engineer does the gas work in your home, you could be risking the safety of your family and your property.”

after March31st.).
“CORGI is the national watchdog for gas safety in the United Kingdom. Our goal is to make people safer when they use trades people. We strive to improve standards in the industry and help you find and use safe and competent trades people.”

“Most building work done in your home will be subject to Building Regulations – and that includes any installation or upgrade work done of your heating system. Building Regulations vary depending on where you in the UK, but generally all work must be notified to your local authority. Because your OFTEC Registered Technician is a ‘competent person’ under the Building Regulations, he can self-certify his work and take care of the notification for you. You’ll receive a certificate confirming that the work done meets the relevant Building Regulations. Keep this certificate in a safe place as you may need it when Home Information Packs become mandatory for England and Wales in June 2007.”

“Giving consumers the protection they deserve”
“APHC - Association of Plumbing and Heating Contractors - is the leading Trade Association for the Plumbing and Central Heating Industry in England and Wales.
The APHC Licensed Plumber Scheme, which is mandatory on all members of the Association, requires member firms to undergo an annual assessment to ensure that they are meeting the strict Business Standards imposed by the scheme. These standards are designed to ensure that member firms are established, reliable businesses, which employ fully trained staff and have a commitment to high levels of customer service. This commitment is reinforced by members being required to operate an approved Customer Complaints system.”
